Bonnet en soie cheveux bouclés & crépus : le guide nuit

Silk Cap for Curly and Coily Hair: The Complete Nighttime Guide

Curly, frizzy, and kinky hair have one thing in common: they are naturally drier and more prone to breakage. At night, on a cotton pillowcase, they dry out and rub. The silk bonnet addresses this problem precisely.

Why silk for textured hair?

Cotton absorbs moisture and sebum, and catches on the hair fiber. Silk, on the other hand, is smooth and minimally absorbent. Specifically, a silk bonnet:

  • reduces friction — meaning less breakage, fewer tangles, and curls that keep their shape;
  • preserves hydration — essential for dry and kinky hair;
  • extends the life of your treatments — masks, oils, and creams penetrate instead of being absorbed by the pillow;
  • respects the scalp — thermoregulating material, so you sweat less.

Silk bonnet, satin bonnet, or silk pillowcase?

Polyester “satin” mimics the smoothness but not the properties of real silk. Between a silk bonnet and a silk pillowcase, it’s not one or the other: the bonnet protects your hair strands wherever you move at night, the pillowcase protects your facial skin and completes the protection. Many combine both.

For very voluminous hair, choose a bonnet with good capacity and a soft edge that doesn’t tighten the hairline (to preserve baby hairs).

How to use and care for it

Gently tuck in your hair strands without pulling. Wash the bonnet by hand or on a delicate 30 °C cycle in a laundry bag, air dry — like all silk (see our care guide).
